Naming of 4 string non-Fender type bass pickups
| For most 4 string pickups the first 2 characters specify the shape (BB, BC, MM, M3, etc.) | |
| if the next character is a numeral, it is the number of strings | |
| next 1 or 2 characters specify magnets and coil windings | |
| example 1: BB4C is a 4 string BB shape deep tone soapbar pickup | |
| example 2: MMC is a 4 string MM (Music Man Stingray) shape deep tone pickup | |
| example 3: MM42CBJD is a Classic Bass Series switchable quad coil - (2 CBJD units in each pickup) |
Matched Pairs: adding -T or -B
to the pickup name specifies Treble (bridge position) or Bass (neck position).
Example: BB4C-T and BB4C-B are a matched pair of BB soapbar shape 4 string
deep tone dual coil pickups.
